Happy Spring!

March 31, 2014

Here in the South, we know Spring has arrived by our noses. The equation goes…
beautiful blooms = sneezing + scratchy throats
It’s ok! Local honey helps relive the woes of the season. And just add honey tea company wouldn’t be a tea company if we didn’t have a little of Spring’s ‘liquid gold’ to help you through the season. So while brewing your cup of tea, stir in a spoonful of honey.
Cheers!

The Flavor of Georgia event was a blast! We picked up our apron, set up our space, and could not wait to introduce our tea to Georgia! We met Senators, Congressmen, Lobbyists, and several other prominent figures in and around the state. We received rave reviews and look forward to a busy 2013.

We also met so many new food companies, made new friends, and sampled WAY too much food!!!

Our neighbors, and now buddy, Gayla’s Grits, keep us in stitches {and our bellies full} with her truth humor and delicious corn milled grits. I have so many grit recipes I can’t wait to try, I’m going to make the house sick! Okay, maybe not sick, but I’ve already made olive oil grits in the crock pot. Grits with Rotel is next on the menu!

Our neighbors on the right make spices to aid in down home Southern Soul food. Their entry: collard green spices. The spices enhance the flavor of your greens and reduce the cook time. Brilliant, I tell ya! Their collards and corn bread was a huge hit at the sampling table.

I have a sweet tooth that I just can not shake and the ladies from Heidi’s Heavenly Cookies did not help me with my problem. Their sea salt caramel bars were AMAZING! I forced myself to stay away {considering I wasn’t a judge!}, but boy was it difficult. And they were nice ladies too. Charming and fun to be around. I hope I run into them again soon.

And the winner of the Flavor of Georgia Contest 2013 was none other than our friends, Chocolate South!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amy’s Georgia Peach Tea Bonbons uses our ‘georgia peaches tea‘ as its infusion to make the delicious {and award winning} flavor! We are overly thrilled! Congrats Amy!!!!!!!!!!!

just add honey is honored to be chosen as a finalist in the Flavor of Georgia 2013 contest!

georgia_peachesBusinesses in Georgia submitted their best and our Georgia Peaches loose leaf tea was chosen as a finalist {exciting, huh}. We will strut our stuff along side so many talented Georgia food companies.

Our friends at Chocolate South are also finalist! Amy Stankus, creator and proprietor, created a Georgia Peaches BonBon that has our Georgia Peaches tea infused in her chocolate goodness {my mouth waters just typing the words}.

Other companies include sauces, jams and jellies, meat, cheeses, and snacks…

So, if you’re free and in the Atlanta area, stop by the freight Depot and have a sample. You can decide for yourself who has the Flavor of Georgia. We will be there to wash down your thirsty little mouths with our soon to be award-winning Georgia Peaches tea!
