we make a mean marTEAni

February 24, 2012

It’s five o’clock somewhere!

just add honey was in the kitchen, playing around with vodka and lemons, and the marTEAni was born. We’re no ‘mixologist’, but we think this drinky is pretty darn good!

Brew a strong pitcher of tea {1/2 cup of berries! tea . 8 cups of cold water.} When ready, pour a 6oz of brewed tea in a glass, add ice, 1oz vodka {don’t worry, you can refill your glass as often as you like. we won’t tell}, and a squeeze of half a lemon.
Stir.
Drink.
Repeat.

Cheers!

vanilla ice cream

For ice cream!!!!!!!

What’s Summer without ice cream?! Freshly baked waffle cones. Creamy goodness running down your hand. An “All American” treat that is everyone’s favorite.

Well, the folks at Tru Bee honey know how to make an ice cream that is perfect for Summer. And without a pinch of sugar, this simple recipe will please all of the screamers!

Honey Vanilla Ice Cream

2 cups milk  {we like 2 percent}

3/4 cup honey {wildflower honey, of course}

dash of salt

2 eggs beaten

2 cups heavy cream

1 tablespoon real vanilla extract

In saucepan, heat milk but don’t burn or “scald” it. Stir in honey and salt. Pour small amount of warm liquid into eggs; return to milk mixture and cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes or less, stirring constantly. Cool thoroughly. Stir in cream and vanilla. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions. Makes about 5 cups.

Serve with drizzled honey and fresh fruit. Cheers!

mint mojitoI have to admit…

When I make mojitos, I cheat. Yes. I said it. I cheat. I do not crush mint with a mortar and pestle. I don’t. I know that most do. I also don’t use sugary syrups. Do you want to know my secret?

I use just add honey mint to be iced tea. Genius, I tell ‘ya!

There is always a fresh brew of the tea in the fridge, so I tried it one day. Whether alone or in the company of friends, just add honey knows how to be the life of the party!

6 oz ::brewed just add honey mint to be iced tea
1 1/2 oz ::your favorite rum (I like light rum, but do your own thing)
1 tbsp ::sugar (unless you sweetened the tea)
1/2 oz ::lime juice (don’t cheat here folks. use a real lime!)
2 oz ::club soda, sparkling water, something bubbly
Pour the tea first. Add crushed ice, rum, sugar, and lime juice. Shake it up or pour from one glass to another. Add the bubbly. Garnish with mint leaves to impress your friends.
Cheers!
